Brownie

Brownie Badge Posts

I will try to keep this list updated as I do posts for the badges and Journeys our troop has completed and as other contribute their great ideas, as well. If the badge is on the list, it means we did it... if it's linked, it means I broke it down and shared. The rest are coming... hopefully soon!

  1. Have you worked on any other Brownie Journey Books?

    1. We did this one journey our 2nd year of Brownies. It's the only one we did.

  2. When you are doing a journey, do you just work on the journey and no other badges? I need feedback as my new troop is working first on the painting badge, but after that should we then start on our Journey and finish that before we go to another Legacy Badge?

    1. There are times where you can incorporate legacy work in with the journeys and tie them together in way that is more time efficient. That way you save time because as they progress into juniors, it takes longer and longer to earn a badge. Practicing that technique of multitasking with badge work will definitely payoff later on.

  3. My troop jumps back and forth between journey and legacy badges. It depends on the available resources. We had a nurse visit during the first aid badge, but were in the middle of The Brownie Quest. We took all year on the Brownie Quest. They did WOW during a day camp over the summer and we're onto the last journey now, although now I also have some first year Brownies. I will end up looping, the first years will do some of the Brownie Quest at the same time as It's Your Story.

  4. We did the Pets badge this summer by going to the fair. I did the bingo board with the different animals at our county fair. I wrote out the questions they needed to ask the 4-H kids about their animals. This took care of all of the steps but making a budget. We did all of it within 1 hour.

  5. When you say session is this the entire meeting? How long are your meetings and how often does your troop meet?

    1. Our brownie meetings were 2 hours long. The sessions listed above follow the book. Most of the time we did complete one per meeting
